Sexy females eating ‘beefy’ burgers.

In the last few year there has been an increase in the amount of fast food commercials that have sexy female celebrities endorsing these foods. One article suggests that this is to get the attention of men, and get them to buy the ‘beefy’ burgers. Paris Hilton filmed a commercial that ended up being taken off the air because of the sexual nature. When I first saw the commercial I had no idea what it for because it took about a minute to get to the point… even though there is no real plot in this:
This commercial is very degrading to women and I am curious on how women, especially a celeb as wealthy as she is willing to make a little bit of money after soaping up her body to endorse some burger.

If it is true about selling sex in fast food commercials tot entice men then are the outcomes really working? A new commercial touches all parts of the family; Burger King has released a commercial with a cartoon fav. Spongebob along with sir mix a lot, and a group of women with squares in their pants, replicating the 90′s hit ‘i like big big butts’. This commercial is using a childhood symbol to bring in business mixed in with degrading women. This is so wrong to be on variety of levels. Burger King claims that the commercial is “intended to show that even adults can have fun, laugh, and be silly with Entertainment genres such as rap and pop culture icons that have become a part of everyday life.” To me personally I don’t even think this statement makes sense or addressing the degrading symbols of women in th commercial, they like big butts, and you get a big butt from Burger King?? This is what I am seing.I would love to know everyone’s opinions I could write a lot of blogs on this topic with all the different celebs that are participating in commercials. Notice what the King says at the end of the commercial.

Th youngtuks on you tube did a good presentation of fast food and sex selling. I would expain all of it but I thought I would attach the video. It talks about the perks of buying burgers from Carl Jrs. In January they had a promo if you bought a salad there was a code with a chance to win an virtialdate with Kim Kardashia. Also notice the Burger King shower girl, I found it very interesting that the gentlemen on the show talks about how shallow men are to the sex appeal of women. Check it out, it is a weekly taping that I try to caught weekly on you tube.

Why we watch weight loss shows.

some strange reason many overweight viewers who want to lose weight aren’t actually inspired to change their ways when watching a weight loss show, because they aren’t on the show, so then it is okay to sit on the couch and watch with a bag of chips or some pizza. Why these shows so addicting? Is it because of the drama, seeing the progress, whether it is failing or becoming successful?

I have been guilty of watching the Biggest Loser, while eating ice cream, interesting huh? Because I like to analyze everything I had to think of why I enjoyed watching the show. I liked to hear the stories about failed diets and seeing that the motivation of a trainer really works, but what is the root of loosing weight? If I sit on the couch watching and eating that certainly will not do anything but help to gain weight!

“These weight loss shows can end up making people feel bad about their own weight as they watch others actually doing something about it. The eating challenges obviously look very appealing but the thought of sweating in the gym and having hidden cameras watching them consume forbidden food at midnight isn’t quite such fun.”

I am beginning to wonder if having cable is even really worth it to me. Most of TV I watch is a bunch of crap, entertainment to take me away from the days realities. Is anyone else feeling this way? Maybe it has been since I have taken this class that I am looking deeper into the root of shows are and how I’m having my own satisfactions met by the TV.

Oprah

Every year I look forward to watching Oprah’s christmas give away, actually I like watching all of her give aways. Oprah is one of least self-wish women we see on TV. She came from nothing to being the most chariatable and wealthy women. “Oprah has become an inspiring and compassionate person who genuinely likes helping others.” “Each year on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Oprah uses the income she makes to brine a little joy to some of her audiences, especially around Christmas. At Christmas time each year she collects all of her favorite items, such as food, books, CDs etc, and give a copy of everything to each audience member.”

Oprah came from having nothing to having enough to spread across the country and internationall as well. She not only gives gifts to audience members but she helps everday American’s who have faced hard times. Oprah is a strong example for not only women but African American women in America. She shows that anything in life is possible and does anything she can to help reach out to others to better her life.

I was having a conversation with someone the other day about a strong female in the media. I had a ha d time thinking of any women at first. It is sad to me as a female that I had a difficult time thinking of someone. Celebrities are everywhere but I would not classify them as a “strong female” a leader and someone who taks charge is what I see in Oprah. Oprah is at times in the media for other reasons than her strength and self-lessnss but for overthe last two decades her weight has been the topic of discussion.

Four years ago she really slimmed down to 160lbs, but a few years later it went right back up again. Oprah shares that a problem with thyroid and a busy schedule is what derailed her form the weight loss program. Oprah shares: “I’m mad at myself. I’m embarrassed. I can’t believe that after these years, all the things I know how to do, I’m still talking about my weight. I look at my thinner self and think, “How did I let this happen again?” A food addiction and thyroid problems were the cuprite of it all . Oprah shares a new light on the strugglis ige with weight gain, in stead of being focused on the negative she turns it around “My goal isn’t to be thin. My goal is for my body to be the weight it can hold—to be strong and healthy and fit, to be itself. My goal is to learn to embrace this body and to be grateful every day for what it has given me.” I find that statment to be beautiful and which many others who struggle with weight would be able to look at dieting, exercisie and weight gain and loss in this light.

The Christmas Chubb

a>a href=”http://littledailynotes.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/istock_christmas20tree2.jpg”>So the holidays are quickly approaching and every year I run into the same problem, the Christmas Chubb. Sometimes I can’t help it all the delicious food, and I am a food lover. Many of my posts have been about tv, movies and celebs. I wanted to change it up a bit and spread some advice I have found in women’s health magazines how us as ladies can avoid that extra bulge we may gain.I am not pushing this on anyone so that they don’t enjoy the holidays just some tips on how to avoid the new years bust by wanting to hurry up and hit he gym like everyone else. The holidays bring extra fun. They can also bring extra parties, stress and weight gain. Here are some tips to help maintain your health and fitness all year-long.<

http://www.femininefirmandfit.com/articles/exersecrets_6896.shtml

This article has some really great tips I did not want to list them all but I thought individuals who are interested would check it out.

After I was doing some research on how to cut down on my food intake during the holidays an article grabbed my eye the other day on the front of the cosmopolitan December issue: 33 Sneaky ways to look thin. I thought to myself "great…. why should u try to stay healthy when you can just look thin." Come onnn people!! So what if you 'look' thin, does that really change anything, there is still something under those clothes that some people may not be happy with. Just a recap so in most mags they will either tell u how to lose weight by starving yourself or working out about 18 hours a day, or hey ya know what forget all that just buy a new wardrobe, or select your clothing more careful to look thinner. Now ladies I know we have all bought clothes, and the goal would say is usually the style we like, make sure that it is flatter and in our budgets. I know I might be going a little all over the place here but what I originally wanted to talk about was how to keep yourself from gaining the weight in a healthy way. Attached in the article surrounding clothing to wear that will make you appear to be 'thin'. Here is an excerpt from the article: "Clean Out Your Closet:
Purge your wardrobe of what Krupp calls "High Fat" clothing and accessories. Some of the worst offenders include oversized T-shirts, sleeveless shirts (if you have arm flab), any shoe that cuts you off at the ankle, and shiny satin skirts as they accentuate every bulge. "</

So where is my question ladies: What are some of your own ways to stay fit throgh the holidays or are some of us guilty for making the same New Years resolution of loosing weight?

Boardwalk Empire, Break the Silence.

a href=”http://littledailynotes.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/boardwalk-empire-01-490×348.jpg”>The new HBO series Boardwalk Empire is a hit in my book. It takes place in the 1920′s in Atlantic City, NJ. During this era women did not yet have the right to vote, (the right to vote passes in the middle of the season). This is als a time of prohibition and the main female character is a part of a organization that is against the illegal distribution of alcohol, a fancy surprise that she begin a close relationship with the ring leader of the alcohol supply.

Two main women in this movie have two very different lives; “Margaret Schroeder (Kelly Macdonald) rallies the women’s vote, housewife Angela Darmody (Aleksa Palladino) seeks a quieter revolution: one that will allow her to have a painting career and a female lover.” Both of these women fighting for something, a right. Angela is not a suffragette, she’s not politically involved, but she’s starting to want more out of a society, more options for how to make a living instead of the preordained things that were acceptable for women at that point. Angela touches on a subject is still taboo in today’s society and was not even a question in the 20′s I remember watching the first scene of Angela and her lover and saying to my boyfriend “WOW, that is really branching out for a show like this.” There are a lot of sex scenes in this show but mostly women pleasuring their husbands. When Angela’s husband is out-of-town is when she seeks the attention from another person. The woman is able to give her what she needs and has interests in common, art. The two shared a scene that was both erotic and poignant, as the women reached a level of physical and emotional intimacy.<

Kelly plays a role that starts out quiet, she begins the relationship with an affiliate of the mob that killed hr husband and made her a widow. She does not ask questions and acts more of the role of the quiet housewife. A women who goes from rags to riches. In the last episode she finally breaks her silence and expresses her feelings in regards to not having a voice.

This show is a great display of the way things were during that era, and seeing women breaking out of their shells Has anyone else seen this show? What do you think about the taboo of Angela having a female lover when he husband leaves?

Girlfriends Road Trip

An all time favorite show of mine is Sex and the City, I was quite upset when the series finally came to an end, but was pleasantly surprised with the 2 big scene movies them came out with. This past Saturday night I sat down to watch th Sex and the City 2 which was a lot of relationships, motherhood, girlfriends, and staying young.
For a quick updates for those of you who might not have seen the 2nd one of any of the series; Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Big are now married, Charlotte (Kristin Davis) has two little girls, one who in the ‘terribe-two’s’ stage, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) finally quits her job because of the sexual discrimination she faces from her boss and focuses more on being a mom and finding a job with true meaning. Samantha… well Samantha (Kim Cattrall) is the always single searching for the next hot guy to make her feel like a young women again, and of course she is successful! While wrestling with the pressures of life, love, and work in Manhattan, Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte join Samantha for a trip to Abu Dhabi where Samantha’s ex is filming a new movie.
Each women does some soul-searching on the trip to find true meaning life and not what life is supposed to look like while embracing what comes to them. Many times as women we expect our relationships, jobs, apartments, and outfits to all looks a certain way (I know I am guilty of this) at times it is easy to become distracted with how we “think” things should be instead of how they are and who we are.
Samantha had been reading Susanne Summers new book on how to stay young, this is when she rushes out to buy bottles upon bottles of vitamins, creams, and masks, all in the hopes to stay forever young with her physical appearance and sexual appetite. Throughout the movie is doing everything in her power and remaining focused on her appearance instead of enjoying her vacation and not being her true self. I think many times when we are consumed with a quick fix on how to stay young, lose weight or anything else to alter our physical appearance it is easy to believe that a little cream with do the trick!

The two mothers in the movie are overwhelmed with the responsibilities of taking care of a child and home, even though they both have nannies. I do not agree with having others raise my children ( I do not have any children yet) Especially for Charlotte, she does not work and bakes pink and red cupcakes in her kitchen while wearing a vintage silk white skirt, then she is the one who is upset when her daughter puts her painted and the backside of her skirt in order to get her mothers attention. I find her to be a bit superficial in the movie. When you have children and have the ability to stay at home a raise them how can you expect someone else to raise them? Does this mean you are incapable?
Then Carrie, the free spirit writer, she struggles with wanting her marriage to look the same as when they were dating, ‘spicy’. She has a hard time gripping that relationships settle down after the honeymoon period and sometimes its all a lot laying on the couch and ordering take out. She struggles with feeling as if the love is disappearing if they are not going out every night, is this her own insecurity of getting older?

All in all I felt this film was a great movie for women of all ages and I feel like I could relate to it in one way or another. Has anyone else seen the film? What did you think? Did anyone else notice in the movie that the men all look great, treat their women as if they are princesses and the women are all just trying to change themselves?

The attached artilce was posted by another blogger and I found it to be a great compare and contrast of SATC 2 and Twilight. Let me know your opinions which is bettr for your young women.

“Your wedding may go on, but it won’t be perfect.”

It’s all about that one little word “perfect” what is perfect? 15 surgeries, a diamond ring, and one fab celebrity wedding for one of these 12 “im-perfect” girls. E!’s new sunday night series “Bridalplasty” gathers 12 new engaged, and some married women who move into a mansion, compete in challenges, all for the chance for a celebrity dream wedding and a whole body plastic surgery make-over. These wo”men are looking for physical improvements in order to make themselves look “perfect” on their wedding day. Some of the husbands/fiance disagree with the surgeries but these women are determined to feel and look better after going under the knife.

On the first episode the 12 girls compete in a challenge to put a magnetic puzzle together that is an idea of what their bodies will look like after surgery. The first 10 girls to complete the challenge are rewarded with a syringe, this was their golden ticket to attend an Injection Party. This party consists of injections, facial creams and peals as well as facial fillers. The two ladies who came in second had a dramatic scene of how devastating it is being them and how badly they want to be a new person, with a new look in order to be the “perfect” bride.

The above picture is Cheyanne and this is what is on her plastic surgery wish list:

According to an article from ABC.com, under the American Society of Plastic Surgeons code of ethics, “We’re technically prohibited from giving procedures away as a prize for a contest. It totally undermines the doctor-patient relationship,” says Dr. Gayle Gordillo, associate professor plastic surgery at Ohio State University. “The ethical and social implications of this [show] are frightening.” (abc.com) Link to full article.

So I am completely puzzled by this whole show and what the true purpose of all of this is? So after competing in these challenges that are of no real brains they are rewarded with thousands of dollars in surgery and an elaborate wedding? So what is everyone take on competition for the price of becoming “perfect?”
